The first President of the United States of America, George Washington was born in a wealthy family in Wakefield, Virginia. During his military life, he fought in the French and Indian wars and gained immense military experience and prestige. On resignation from the army, he became a delegate to the First Continental Congress. However, the Second Continental Congress elected him as the commander of the continental armies. Washington died in Mount Vernon in December 1799.
